Presenter: Larry Sutter, Ph.D., P.E.
Description: This presentation will discuss materials being developed for the concrete industry that will lower the embodied carbon of a yard of concrete. Some materials are ready to use and do not require additional support or alteration of how we produce, place, and finish concrete. Others will require new approaches, new specification, and new understanding of chemistry.
Objectives:
- By the end of the presentation, participants will understand the driving forces for developing materials for the concrete industry that will lower the embodied carbon of a yard of concrete.
- By the end of the presentation, attendees will be able to identify materials that are ready to use and do not require additional support or alternation of how we produce, place, and finish concrete.
- By the end of the presentation, attendees will be able to discuss what will need to be changed in specification and tests.
- By the end of the presentation, attendees will have an understanding of new approaches, new specifications, and a new understanding of chemistry in regards to low carbon materials for concrete.
