The ACI Concrete Testing Technician – Grade 1 Program
This training course offers instruction in the fundamentals of concrete procedures. Emphasis is
placed upon practical information and skills which will help quality-control and testing personnel
do their jobs more efficiently and accurately to ensure consistent, good quality concrete and
reliable test results. ASTM C94 requires anyone testing concrete in the field to be certified
through an ACI equivalent program. The WRMCA program is the only such program offered in
Wisconsin. Previous experience and careful review of the training materials is recommended.
The course involves a morning classroom session and instruction in basic concrete materials
and concrete testing procedures: slump, air, yield, temperature, measurement, rolla meter, and
cylinder casting. After the lecture, a written exam is given. The afternoon field test session
includes demonstrations and practice in proper concrete testing procedure.
An examination will be given and requires each participant to carry out the proper testing
procedures for slump, air content, yield temperature measurement, rolla meter, and cylinder.
The exam is closed book. YOU MUST BRING A CALCULATOR.
Who Is Invited
This course is open to technicians employed by concrete suppliers, contractors, testing lab
personnel, government agency personnel, and other individuals employed in the construction
industry.
NOTE – please dress in casual wear – boots, jeans, sweatshirt as the field testing is handson.
